One hundred original story openings with a moody, candlelit autumn feel and no gore: haunted houses, moonlit woods, pumpkin fields, attics full of curiosities, friendly ghosts, costumes and mysterious letters. Each opening is one to three sentences, comes with a mood tag (cozy, funny, mysterious, gently eerie or adventurous) and a short Then what? question to help a young writer choose the next sentence.
The printable booklet gives five openings per page with two starting lines under each, and a blank story planner page at the end. The TXT file is handy for slides and read-alouds, and the CSV lets you sort or filter by setting and mood.

About the fonts: Playfair Display, Nunito give the design its look and are free from Google Fonts under the SIL Open Font License, including commercial use. Missing fonts fall back to Georgia or Arial-style system fonts.
Settings (10 openings each): haunted house, moonlit woods, pumpkin patch and farm, town and school, attic treasures, friendly graveyard, costumes and trick-or-treat, fog, wind and sky, creatures and critters, letters, doors and secrets. Moods: adventurous 12, cozy 20, funny 23, gently eerie 17, mysterious 28. Content note: spooky but friendly. There is no gore, no real-world violence and no use of trademarked characters; every opening is original wording written for this set.
