Item details
Five school-day palettes built for legibility: Chalkboard Autumn, Sharpened Pencil, Bus Stop Morning, Library Corner and Science Lab Fall. Besides names, hex, RGB and HSL, the pack includes a safe-text guide that tests every color as a background against every other color in its palette plus white and black, so a teacher or designer can see at a glance which text is readable where.
Use it for: - Design worksheets, slide decks and bulletin boards where every headline and label meets WCAG contrast - Choose text colors for low-vision and projector use: the guide separates body-text pairs from large-text-only pairs - Teach color contrast in a design, art or computer-science lesson using real computed ratios
What's included: - 1 ZIP containing: README.txt with a schema note, palettes.json, palettes.csv, contrast-pairs.csv, hex-codes.txt, css-variables.txt and a swatch-sheets folder (6 PNG images) - 5 palettes, 35 named colors in total, each with hex, RGB, HSL, a suggested role and a usage note - 106 contrast pairs checked with the WCAG 2.1 formula (ratio plus AA/AAA pass flags) - 6 PNG swatch images, 2400 px wide (one per palette plus an overview) - safe-text-guide.csv: 156 checked text-on-background options, each with ratio, rating and a plain-language "safe for" note
Opens in: - JSON (UTF-8) loads in any programming language, no-code tool or app that reads structured data. - CSV (comma-separated, UTF-8) imports into Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers, LibreOffice, Airtable, Notion and most databases. - TXT (UTF-8 plain text) opens in any text editor, word processor or notes app. - PNG images work in any document, slide, design or print tool.
How the data works: ratios follow the WCAG 2.1 formula and are rounded down to two decimals. Body text needs 4.5:1 (AA) or 7:1 (AAA); large text (24 px or 18.66 px bold and up) and icons need 3:1. The guide lists only combinations at 3:1 and above; anything not listed is below 3:1 and should not carry text.
palettes.json adds an accessible_text list to every color (the palette colors, white or black that reach 4.5:1 on it), so an app can pick a readable text color automatically.
This is an instant digital download. No physical item is shipped. Files are original Educo designs; use depends on the license tier you choose at checkout.
