Work out what every cookie, muffin and mini loaf really costs and what to charge. List your pantry prices once, build each recipe from the ingredient dropdown, and the workbook calculates the cost of a batch, the cost per item, profit per item, margin and a suggested price that hits your target margin, rounded up to the nearest quarter. A sale plan then turns batches into expected revenue, cost, break-even items and net profit after your fixed costs.
Perfect when you need to: - Price a school, church or neighborhood fall bake sale so it actually raises money - Check whether a cottage-bakery or farmers-market treat covers its ingredients and packaging - Plan how many batches to bake and how many items you need to sell to break even
What's included: - 1 XLSX workbook with 5 tabs: Pantry Price List (25 sample ingredients, 30 rows), Recipe Costing (6 sample recipes, 72 rows), Pricing and Profit, How to Use - 1 ODS copy of the workbook for LibreOffice and OpenOffice - 1 CSV: the per-item pricing table as plain values
Works with: - XLSX opens in Microsoft Excel (2016, 2019, 2021, Microsoft 365), Google Sheets (upload and open), LibreOffice Calc and Apple Numbers; formulas recalculate as you type. - ODS opens in LibreOffice Calc, Apache OpenOffice, Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel and Apple Numbers; formulas recalculate as you type. - CSV (comma-separated, UTF-8) imports into Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers, LibreOffice, Airtable, Notion and most databases.
Fonts: designed with Fraunces, Nunito (free from Google Fonts under the SIL Open Font License, including commercial use). Install them for the exact look; if they are missing, your app swaps in a similar system font (Georgia or Arial style) and the layout still works, though line breaks may shift slightly.
How to use: type only in the soft yellow cells. Ingredient and recipe names come from dropdowns. No macros, add-ins or external links.
How the math works: cost per unit = pack price / pack size. A recipe line costs quantity x cost per unit; a batch costs the sum of its lines. Cost per item = batch cost / items per batch, plus any other cost per item. Margin = profit / price. Suggested price = total cost / (1 - target margin), rounded up. Expected revenue assumes the sell-through percentage you enter. The ingredient prices and quantities are example figures to show the sheet working. Your local prices will differ, so replace every yellow price with what you actually pay.
