Every text is between 136 and 150 words long (average 143). Printed in Atkinson Hyperlegible print, a typeface built for high legibility. Each of the 8 passages fills its own page, and its questions sit on the next page so the text never feels cramped.

Question types (40 total): 32 multiple choice with four options and 8 short answer. Skill focus: detail, cause and effect, main idea, vocabulary in context, inference, sequence and character.

Sample question from "The Squirrel Who Hid Too Many Acorns" (main idea): What is the moral of this fable? Correct answer: B, Careful planning is worth more than hurried work. Short-answer example, "The Gecko Who Wanted Bright Colors": Why did the gecko's plain color keep her safe? The key gives this sample response: Her tan color matched the stones, so predators like the hawk could not easily see her.

Everything arrives as one ZIP: an 18-page worksheet PDF in US Letter and in A4 (separate folders). A 2-page answer key lists the correct letter and answer text for each multiple-choice item, a sample response for each written item, and the skill tag of every question.
