A crossword workbook for Grades 6-8: 12 printable puzzles, each built from a single classroom topic. Puzzles use 13 to 16 answers apiece - 176 clues in total - and the answers cross each other in one connected grid. Each grid is a single connected crossword: all answers interlock, and only real answer squares are drawn.
Look for these topics inside: Cells and Microscopes, Engineering and Design, Biomes of the World, Greek and Latin Roots, The Writing Process, Fraction Vocabulary, Probability and Statistics, Technology and Computers, Plant Parts and Photosynthesis, Government and Citizenship and 2 more. Sample answers include Mustard, Fruit, Parts, Materials, Saffron. For example, the clue "Curved structure over a doorway or bridge span" leads to a 4-letter answer, and "Stores power for a portable device" to a 7-letter one.
There is no word bank: solvers rely on the clue, the letter count and the crossing letters, which makes these a true recall challenge. Page layout: the grid sits at the top, numbered like a classic crossword, with Across and Down clues in two columns below it. A name and date line is printed in the corner. Answer squares measure at least 0.30 inch.
One ZIP, both paper sizes: the US-Letter and A4 folders each contain a 12-page puzzle file and a matching answer key file. All 12 solutions are in a separate answer key file (3 pages, up to 4 solved grids per page) so students never see them by accident.
