Looking for ready-to-print reading practice for Kindergarten? This "Food and Fun" pack bundles 8 short original texts, 4 stories, 3 articles and 1 how-to text, each paired with 2 questions that check what the reader really understood.
Passage titles, in order: The Big Red Apple, Fruit Grows, Priya’s Soup, How to Make a Sandwich, All About Eggs, The Cake for Gran, Eat the Colors, Ana’s Lunch Box.
Every text is between 28 and 40 words long (average 34). Printed in large Andika print, a typeface designed for beginning readers. Each of the 8 passages gets its own page, with the questions printed below it on the same sheet.
Across the pack there are 16 questions: 8 multiple-choice items (three choices each) and 8 written-response items with lines for the answer. The skills covered are detail, inference and sequence.
Sample question from "Priya’s Soup" (inference): Why did Mom say to wait? Correct answer: C, The soup was hot. Short-answer example, "How to Make a Sandwich": Who should cut the sandwich? The key gives this sample response: A grown-up.
Everything arrives as one ZIP: a 10-page worksheet PDF in US Letter and in A4 (separate folders). A 1-page answer key lists the correct letter and answer text for each multiple-choice item, a sample response for each written item, and the skill tag of every question. The pack opens with a contents page (titles, genres, skills, page numbers) and ends with a reading tracker plus a self-rating skills checklist. An Editable folder with a DOCX file of all passages and questions is included too, without the answer key, so you can adapt wording or add your own items.
Pair a passage with a short retelling or a drawing activity. Use it for a weekly reading routine, one passage per day. Use the tracker to see which skills need another round.
