Looking for no-prep Simple Machines practice? Here are 15 crosswords pitched at Grades 2-5, each one a complete page ready to print and solve. Expect 10 to 12 words per puzzle (165 clues altogether), with mid-length words (4-10 letters) and grids up to 13 x 13 squares. Every word in a grid crosses at least one other word, and the squares that are not part of an answer stay blank, so nothing is padded with nonsense letters.
A taste of the vocabulary: Knife, Machine, Nutcracker, Bicycle, Tweezers, Pulley, Gear. Sample clues: "Playground lever with a seat at each end" (6 letters) and "Long metal lever for prying things open" (7 letters).
A word bank on every page lists the answers alphabetically; solvers cross words off as they go, which keeps the activity confidence-building. The clean one-puzzle-per-page layout shows the grid, then the Across and Down clues in neat columns. There is a place for name and date. Answer squares measure at least 0.35 inch.
