Item details
A smiling red apple for teacher gifts, back-to-school tote bags and classroom aprons. The apple body is applique-cut from red fabric; the machine then stitches a pink highlight curve, two black oval eyes, blush cheeks, a satin smile, a tiny gold star on the shoulder, a brown stem and a green leaf.
The face has no outline, so it reads cute rather than comic. Make a stack of them for a class set of library bags, add a name in your machine software, or stitch the large 6x10 size onto a classroom door banner or a pillow for the reading corner.
Three sizes share the same stitch order, so you can match a tote bag and a coordinating pencil pouch.

Stitching notes: Applique stitch order: (1) placement line; place a piece of fabric over it. (2) tack-down; trim the fabric close to the stitch line. (3) satin edge covers the raw edge. Use cotton, felt or quilting cotton for the applique piece; light fusible web behind the fabric keeps it flat.
