A happy scarecrow head, front-on: sand-coloured burlap face with big black eyes, rosy cheeks, a carrot-orange nose and a wide stitched smile, topped by a chocolate straw hat with a cranberry band, a stitched cream patch and a yellow sunflower tucked in the side. Wisps of golden straw stick out from under the brim.
It is the friendly side of fall: ideal for classroom shirts, harvest-festival aprons, kids sweatshirts, pumpkin-patch tote bags and autumn pillow covers. Because the face is symmetrical and bold, it also looks great repeated in a row along a banner.
The hat, face and straw tufts are separate fills so the shapes never smear into each other. Facial features are bold enough for a 4x4 hoop, and the smile and patch stitches are narrow satin and bean lines.

Stitching notes: Stitch on stable woven fabric or with cut-away stabilizer on knits; 40 wt polyester thread and a 75/11 needle suit these densities. Fills use tatami rows about 0.4 mm apart with edge-walk and zigzag underlay; satin edges give crisp outlines.
