A calm, sleepy-eyed ghost in warm ivory carries an old iron lantern with a glowing orange flame. Short curved rays of golden thread show the light spilling out, giving the scene a quiet, candlelit mood instead of a jump scare.
The lantern has a yellow glass panel, a teardrop flame, black cap and base and a curved handle held up by the ghost hand. The ghost body has a grey shadow along one side and a black satin edge, so it reads well on pale linen and on dark fabric.
Stitch it on a flour-sack tea towel, a linen pillow, a canvas tote or a framed hoop for the mantel. It pairs naturally with pumpkins and crows in a vintage Halloween set.

Compatibility: Pick the format your machine reads: PES or PEC for Brother and Baby Lock, JEF for Janome, VP3 for Husqvarna Viking and Pfaff, DST for commercial machines and most others. The files open in embroidery software such as Hatch, Embrilliance, Wilcom and Ink/Stitch.
Stitching notes: Stitch on stable woven fabric or with cut-away stabilizer on knits; 40 wt polyester thread and a 75/11 needle suit these densities. Fills use tatami rows about 0.4 mm apart with edge-walk and zigzag underlay; satin edges give crisp outlines.
