Bedtime Poems for Autumn Nights: 40 Original Rhyming Poems for Ages 3 to 8

A collection of 40 original rhyming poems for cozy autumn bedtimes. They are gentle, a little spooky in a friendly way, and written for reading aloud to children aged about 3 to 8. The poems range from four-line sound rhymes to twelve-line ballads, and use real rhyme and rhythm: couplets, ballad stanzas, a limerick, counting rhymes and lullabies with refrains.

Subjects include falling leaves, owls, the moon, pumpkins, fog, a shy ghost, a black cat who just wants a lap, cocoa and a blanket fort. Each poem has a short note with a suggested age and a tip for reading it aloud, and there is a note on reading aloud plus a few word games. The book has about 4,400 words including the notes.

Great for: - Bedtime reading for the weeks leading up to Halloween - Read-aloud poems for a classroom, library or story circle - Poetry practice: clapping beats, finishing rhymes, writing a two-line poem - A gentle gift for a parent, grandparent or teacher of young children
