A cheerful reading log for kids who like to see their progress. The first page is a patch of 30 jack-o'-lantern outlines: color one in for every 15 minutes of reading or every finished book, and by the end of fall the whole patch is orange. Six weekly logs follow, each with a row for Monday through Sunday, a space for the book title, minutes read, a grown-up's initials and one more small pumpkin to color for every day.
Beyond tracking minutes, the set asks children to think about what they read. There is a story review page with characters, setting, beginning, middle and end and a drawing box, a separate nonfiction page for three facts and a question, a word collector for new vocabulary, and a wish list with three goals. A printable reading award finishes the set. The orange and purple scalloped pages are drawn as sharp vector artwork with friendly ghosts, bats, owls and pumpkins, and the pages are written to suit roughly grades 1 to 5.
