Sixteen pages use pumpkins, owls, cats, apples and other fall pictures inside the two-row, five-column frame so children can see numbers up to 10 and beyond as quantities, not just symbols.
Pages move from simply counting a frame, to filling frames, finding how many empty squares remain, making 10 with two colors, comparing which frame has more or fewer, teen numbers as ten plus some more, and finally adding and subtracting with the frame as a picture.
